The copied text may be valid while an older phone, font or application lacks artwork for that exact combination.
Copy the complete value from one control and avoid editing between its visible parts.

One picture can contain several characters
Because it is a sequence, not one character. Several characters are joined by hidden joiners to make one picture.
If the device does not know that combination, it shows the parts it does know.

Longer sequences break more often. A family or a skin-toned gesture has more parts to support.
